The team

Anceu is a small house run by a small team. These are the people, and the dog, you will meet when you arrive. If you want to know more about any of us, ask at dinner.

Agustín, Rural Hacker

Agustín opened Anceu. In 2018 he kept reading about Galician villages being left empty, and started looking for a place in his own region where a coliving and coworking space could help bring one back to life. He signed for the house in early 2020, a month before COVID, ran a soft launch with more than forty early colivers that July, and opened officially on 1 August 2020. He tells the whole story in how I opened a rural coliving space in Spain, and writes many of the other stories on this site.

Africa, making the magic happen

Africa first came to Anceu from Arroelo in May 2020, before the house had even opened. She and Agustín gave Anceu the character it has today, and in 2021 she helped the first colivers write the house manifesto. La Voz de Galicia told their story in 2024.

Rosa, keeper of a cosy house

Rosa runs the house. In July 2020 she brought the mayor of Ponte Caldelas to Anceu to welcome a new business to town, and she is the reason we can text María for fresh fish any day of the week.

Nacho, chilling

Nacho arrived at the end of May 2020, during the weeks before the opening, and stayed part of the house. He is also part of Rural Hackers.

Se, Artista de la Pista

Se’s title stays in Spanish in every language, because it does not survive translation.

Lino, Indiana Jones

Lino’s title is Indiana Jones. Ask about it at dinner.

Pepe, taking it slow

Pepe was adopted from Os Palleiros while living at Anceu. If you are thinking of bringing your own dog, read about our dog-friendly coliving.

Come and meet us

There are usually ten to fifteen people living here at a time, and never more than twenty. Tell us about yourself and the month you would like to come.
